Just a random buy today... it kind of reminds of Chimay Red a bit, but deeper on the malts, and without the complexity and earthy taste of a Chimay beer. Good stuff though... was looking for a good alternative to an Imperial stout or ipa and this is it.

Freshness: Not indicated
Packaging: 22 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Tulip
Purchased: Single from Midtown Wine & Spirits, Nashville
Dark beer of reddish-brown color with just a hint of a tan head. Retention and lacing are minimal.
Aromas consist of dark fruits like figs and raisins, plus big notes of malty sweetness with molasses and caramel coming to mind.
Rich taste, featuring caramel malt flavors, in addition to lightly toasted barley and woody hops. This is a malt bomb, with some cola-like flavors as well. Sweetness is prominent but not cloying.
Lightly carbonated, the body sits between medium and full. Cocoa and caramel flavors are in the malty sweet finish.
Overall a very smooth and easy-drinking dark ale that doesn't feel like a 10% ABV beer. I liked it a lot.
