This is a special version of the Early Riser coffee stout with raspberries added.
Appearance is jet black in color and opaque. The tan head is fairly small and fades quickly. I get a little lacing on the glass.
Aromas are fruity, with the raspberry very up front. Other smells are of coffee and dark roasted malts. Very nice to smell.
The taste has a strong coffee roast flavor, plus the fruitiness of the raspberry, which gives an interesting contrast of the toasted bitterness vs the fruit sweetness.
The body is medium with carbonation in between low and moderate. The finish is sweet and of raspberries, mixed with the coffee-like bitterness.
Overall an interesting beer - balanced well and making a pleasant nightcap.
Thanks to Derrick for letting me try this one!
