This beer pours a hazy medium apricot colour, with one finger of tight soapy off-white head, which leaves a thin cascading paint job of lace around the glass upon its retreat. It smells of fruity biscuit malt, with some minor floral hops. The taste is a nice balance of caramel and biscuit malt, and mild earthy, floral hops. The carbonation is on the low side of moderate, the body smooth, creamy, and decently weighty. It finishes mostly dry and crisp, with a twinge of crackery malt.

I can't say what difference the organic malt makes to this offering, but as a whole, it's a pretty drinkable pale ale, however, more in the English sense than the American.

Poured a nice bright, yet hazy aprocot orange in colour with a thick, white head and so-so lacing.

Aroma is quite sweet and floral. Some hint of butter caramel.

Taste might be the most smooth example of butter caramel I've ever tasted in an ale. Makes this beer a definite gateway beer to the macro crowd. Hops tend to be more floral and subtle, and could possibly balance out the malts a bit better it they were nore pronounced.

Very smooth and medium in body...carbonation works well with the flavour here.

My first impression was Old Speckled Hen ( the buttery caramel) mates with an New world APA rooster to produce this hybrid of both styles.

I had picked up a six pack of this organic ale, from a relatively new brewer, after seeing a display at the liquor store in Moose Jaw. I drank a couple while camping in Saskatchewan, traded a couple, but now finally getting around to reviewing.
Pours gold with yellow highlights and a white head. Good foam retention, thin lace streaks, well carbonated. A bit of cloudy haze, left a thin layer of sediment at the bottom of the glass. Not alot of 'pale ale' hop aromas, a bit sweet, and fruity to go with the grains. Light malt flavor, a bit of vegetable finish. Generally, good flavor, earthy hoppiness.

I hope this small, totally organic brewery can survive and flourish, looking forward to more Brecknock next time I am in Saskatchewan. Good info on their website.

I had a very nice afternoon in Toronto finally catching up with my frequent trading partner BigBry. Not only is he a top notch guy, but he also hooked me up with a few bottles (including this one) in an inperson trade. Cheers Bryan!

Pours a rich gold with a clean white head. Retention is helped by numerous streams of quickly rising bubbles, and a few good patches of lace are left behind. Muted cereal aroma with hints of lemon gradually improves as it warms, and has strong notes of lemondrop and soap.

The flavour is clean, but not overly distinct. Light pale malt throughout, with occasional notes of lemon and grass, leading to a slightly acidic lemon finish. Grainy aftertaste. Not really feeling the Cascades, but there is a spiciness from the perle, which give this a bit of a German pils feel. Subtle and light all round. Clean, but not really flavourful. Carbonation should suit the macro crowd, but doesn't really do too much for this beer because its far too aggressive.

Interesting to try this one, but it doesn't differentiate itself from the crowd. Preferable to a macro, but not to most craft. Thanks again Bryan!
