Served by Four Friends at the re-opening of a BRIXX pizza location
Appearance: Pour is near jet black with a touch of royal purple. No head or lacing, a bit murky.
Smell: More fruity than I expected, I got prunes and dates. Also a decent serving of dark malts. Not particularly complex.
Taste: Again, the prune taste really bothered me. The beer lacks complexity, you get the malts and the weird dark fruits and nothing else - no vanilla, no chocolate, no roast, etc.
Mouthfeel: Very much under-carbonated and not that big/bold/smooth for a Russian Imperial Stout.
Overall: Great to see these sorts of beers being made locally, this one has a ways to go. I think these are very small batches so there may be significant variance.
