Thanks to Jeff and Kristy for bringing this one home from Der Fatherland.
This one pours a dark brown plumb and amber with a thin film and narrow collar of off white.
Smells of over ripe plumb, chocolate riesen chews, old molasses and hazel nut. This has some nice complexity but is far too sweet.
Tastes of hazel nut, dry chocolate and port wine that fades to an over-ripe banana and watermelon rind. Finishes with a touch of ascorbic acid.
Feels light and thin with a swarm of carbonation that rises and falls quickly.
Nice, light, complex and different.

500ml bottle. Pours hazy dark mahogany with a small, light beige head. Some lacing. Sweet, dark malt aroma with a lot of caramel. Roasted malt in the taste, with more caramel and some dark fruit. Drier finish. Medium body with pleasant carbonation. Though I'm not normally a fan of dunkels, this is one of the best I've had. More great stuff from Franconia.
