Mango MosaicMango Mosaic
Notes: Mosaic hops take center stage contributing aromas of guava, mango, and passion fruit lending a unique sweetness to the hop character of this pale ale. To build upon the tropical attributes of the hops, we’ve added thousands of pounds of mango puree per batch. Munich malts provide body and balance as well as a subtle sweetness that pairs with the fruit. This intermingling of ingredients creates a memorable and refreshing pale ale.

12 oz single bottle from Fogey's into Calusa snifter.
Date is best by 11/2/20, so I better get cracking.

Pours a pale straw color from the bottle and forms a slightly darker blonde in the glass, about 50% opaque. Fuzzy little white head of 1 finger, recedes gradually to 1/2 finger and leaves some nice speckled lacing up the sides.

Aroma is bread and mango, with a bit of dank cattiness, lemon peel, and peach yogurt.

Flavor comes out hops first, with a sharp grassy bitterness but also a delicate fruitiness with grapefruit and orange peel, some lemon oil, followed by mango sorbet and bread. As it warms, the mango notes become a bit medicinal. Like mango cough syrup. I've never tasted anything like it before. Also the bitterness is just insane, it's nearly palate scrubbing and it keeps piling on the more you sip it. Pretty soon it's just medicine and grass.

Feel is crisp and light, airy even, with a moderate alcohol heat and some stubborn clinging resins. It does kind of ruin the palate a bit.

Overall, I wasn't expecting this to be so bitter. Aside from the medicine flavor, I didn't get any artificial mango like other reviews state. Instead I got more of a genuine mango sorbet flavor. Back off on the boil hops a bit and remedy that medicinal mango flavor and you might have something worth drinking.

Edit : getting halfway through the beer it turned to total Robitussin. I had to dump it.

12-oz bottle into Samuel Smith pint glass

A - golden yellow body loaded with suspended sediment, high visible carbonation, 3 fingers of heavy foam

S - mostly sweet mango, hints of malt and bitterness

T - mango and tropical fruits, lemony citrus, touch of pine, enough grain in the background for a decent balance; hints of pine and pepper appear for a dry finish

M - crisp medium body, high carbonation; refreshing with a dry finish

O - Fruit beers really are not my thing. That said, this one is a decent pale.

12oz can bottle in a nonic glass. No can dating.

Look- Slightly hazy golden amber color, small off-white head that recedes very quickly to a ring of bubbles, minimal lacing. Light carbonation streams visible.

Smell- Ripe mango, nectarine, a bit of citrus, faint pine, herbal/floral hops.

Taste- Similar to the aroma, tropical fruit and nectarine, some citrus and grainy malt, light pine with a moderately bitter hop back end.

Feel- Medium bodied, fairly crisp and dry. Moderate carbonation on the tongue.

O- Pretty good overall but not something that I'll go back to.

12 oz. bottle:

Pours very slightly hazed golden with a white head that leaves lacing.

The smell is fresh mango. Mango aroma is natural. Grainy malt, some hop spice and touch of black pepper shows that it is a solid APA with mango rather than just fruit.

The taste is of mango that enhances a very solid APA. Mango, grainy malt, hop spice and and a touch of black pepper are all balanced. Refreshing dryness finish.

The carbonation is a bit too fast at the start, but soon calms down. An easy drinking fruit-infused pale ale. Mango present, especially in the nose, but doesn't overwhelm.

Somewhat cloudy yellow-amber color. Medium head that dissipated rather quickly. Pleasant aroma; In addition to the mango and guava, I detect pineapple, apricot, and black pepper. The taste is bitter and dry. The taste of mango is very subtle. A refreshing pale ale, but I've had better.

Pours a transparent honey color with visible particle suspension that looks like swimming bits of juice pulp. Head is a finger and a half in height, off-white in color, and retains decently well. Aroma is tangerine and mango right up front. It has a semi-sickly, cloying quality that comes off as artificial, or as if it was drank from a can of mangos stored in syrup - very sweet. As the immediate mango dies down a touch, bready, earthy malts mingle with citrus hops to form the remainder of the aroma. Flavor profile is mango still, with its sweetness swelling on the tongue from the start - which is to say, it starts out mild and balanced and then accelerates into a mango-dominated sweet taste. Bready, earthy, caramely malts mingle with citrus, herbal, and light resiny hops to form the remainder of the flavor profile, but are washed down by the syrupy-sweet mango notes. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a settled, fuzzy texture that comes off as slightly expansive and refreshing considering the rest of the beer. It's smooth in this regard. Overall, mango notes are absolutely huge, but that's no surprise considering the label and beer name. Unfortunately, that mango quality comes off artificial as opposed to natural.

12 oz. Bottle

Poured into a tulip a pretty nice slightly hazy pale yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango). The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango). Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a nice thirst quencher.

Better than anticipated. Mango flavored drinks tend to be sweet and syrupy and not as balanced in their sweetness and acidity as more citrus flavored beers, but this is pretty well balanced. Very mild hop bitterness. Decently carbonated. Mild kcals is a plus too (135kcal). Nice strong mango smell.

Orangish color with an off white color head. The Mango is heavy in the scent. The Mango is up front in the taste and is an excellent fruit flavor without feeling like syrup. The mosaic hops balance this out nicely and make it an easy drinking light beer.

Grabbed this in a mix-6 from Binny's. Poured a light gold, can see right through it. Bubbly head that stuck around for probably about a minute. Some lacing. Easy on the nose - some sharper citrus notes, but not too much going on there. Mango came through in the taste, super refreshing. Very crushable.

12 oz bottle of Mango Mosaic. Not dated.
Clear amber body with a short but durable bone-colored head that leaves sheets of lacing. Lots of floating particles (from mangoes?) and visible carbonation.
Mild bitterness for style.
Aroma: dominated by mangoes with hints of generic tropical fruits and a faint floral tone. The flavor follows.
Notably dry finish; medium body and medium carbonation.

I guess I foolishly thought this was celebrating the mango accent from the mosaic hops, which I love. I have seen fruit added where they are not considered fruit beer. However, this is a fruit beer, which I am not a big fan of. Taste good if you like fruity beer. I like IPAs for purely the hops!

Yep, it's a fruity pale ale, just like you'd expect. You get a nice sweetness from the fruit followed by the bitterness from the Mosaic hops, which is a nice combination. I bet this would taste quite a bit different with a different hop, but they can always experiment with that down the road. Not too sweet or too hoppy, this is a very drinkable APA.

Mango Mosaic brewed by Breckenridge Brewery, with an ABV of 5.50% ABV. This American Pale Ale pours out a nice golden amber color with a small white head. There is also some nice spotty lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell of this brew, is Rich with fruit sweetness, mango , grains and malts. You also pick up on a nice mild hop bitterness in the smell of this brew. So far this is a real nice inviting American Pale Ale. Now for the taste,it is Bold with a hop bitterness at first. Then you pick up on a mango tart sweetness. I really like how the smell is difficult from the taste. There is a lot going on in this brew. I will give this brew this, it this it is different, but in a good way. You also pick up on a nice nice amount of grains and malts in the taste of this brew. The body of Mango Mosaic is a solid medium, really smooth and easy drinking. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. This brew would go nice on a warm summer night, or a nice dinner. The month feel of Mango Mosaic is Happy, Mango, Sweet, Clean, Smooth And Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this American Pale Ale a 4.25 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again. Breckenridge Brewery, did a real nice job with this brew.

On a month leading upto pumpkin madness, I wished there was more for mango...

Very nice coloration and lacing in the pint glass and the brew has a delicious smell of mango to it, no denying. Mouthfeel was crisp, light-bodied, and very easy to drink. Taste-wise there was good flavoring of mango, but it was somewhat unbalanced due to a high-bitterness I didn't think was warranted for this beer. Nevertheless, this is a good brew, another BB offering to keep an eye out for.

Had higher expectations about this beer, had on tap in MN at Pub 42. Bitterness is good, but the mango "flavor" just tasted artificial. Couldn't get over the blend of Mosaic hops, which were there and dosed appropriately, and that mango character... just not great.

Breckenridge Brewery "Mango Mosaic"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle seemingly without freshness dating
$2 @ Weis Market, Conshohocken, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Just sniffing at the opened bottle before it was poured I found what I think of as Mosaic hops, and mango as well. Interesting! It says there's natural mango flavor added. And now that I've poured it I can smell that aspect of it even stronger. It's a clear deep gold beneath a finger-thick head of bright white that steadily drops to a thin but solid surface covering. Wow, that aroma really is amazing. For fans of tropical fruits, or just mangoes, I'd say this is a must try. It makes me wish I was sitting on a deck looking out over the ocean. Let's see how the flavor fares... not so well in my book. The fruitiness is there but it's nowhere near as bright as the aroma suggests, and you're instantly reminded that it's a beer as a solid bitterness runs through it, start to finish. That's it's downfall in my opinion, not that I like sweet and fruity beers, but I think it's about 10 IBUs too much. Or, might I suggest, toning down the added mango flavoring instead and making it more of a Mosaic pale ale with a little bit of additional mango? But I'm getting ahead of myself. The malt is biscuity and a little bit toasty, and the fruitiness, wherever it comes from, is like mango and guava with a hint of blueberry thrown in. The bitterness, as noted, cuts right through it and then lingers in the dry and fruity finish. It's medium bodied and crisp. Overall I like it but think it could be better balanced, either going more "pale ale" or more "mango", one or the other.

Mango Mosaic | Breckenridge Brewery. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head's two fingers thick, with lacing, and a clear medium golden amber body.

I smell the mango for sure. How well it is assimilating with the hops is yet to be determined...

Tastes like not-too-bitter hops that, yes, perform well in this flavor blending of ingredients. A honey biscuit malt profile keeps this brew anchored from getting too sweet from the mango.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll give Mango Mosaic | Breckenridge Brewery a 4.25. Nothing life-altering, but if you like mango, go ahead and give this a try.

I don't see any bottle date.

Appearance: The body is a light golden color that is slightly hazy. The head is thick, white, and fluffy. It has good retention.

Aroma: It has a strong peach and mango aroma. There is also this strong tangerine scent that comes through.

Taste: Up front there is a lot of peach flavor and it is replaced with this bitter tasting under-ripe mango flavor which is strong. Tropical is thrown around a lot but this beer would be well suited in a tropical environment. The flavor focus is certainly tropical fruit.

Mouthfeel: Great bitterness and a nice slightly acidic bite to the beer. It is easy to drink and easy to come back for more. Good carbonation and no evident alcohol. It is on the lighter side with a semi-dry finish. It works well for this beer.

Overall: It is a memorable beer and it is the kind of beer that would be on the forefront of recommendable beers to those who enjoy tropical fruit. The Mosaic hops, and hop flavor in general, seems to be lost to the mango flavor added to the beer. Perhaps they are so similar that it makes it hard to differentiate the flavors. While it probably wouldn't be on the list of beers I recommend to Mosaic lovers, or hop lovers in general, it is certainly a good beer. It is the kind of beer you immediately refer to when a person wants something that is truly tropical or tastes like mangos.
