Breckenridge Red Ale pours a wonderful dark red from a 12oz brown bottle. Head was slight and really not indicative of the marvelous taste that is to come.
Nose is a fragrant malt with some hops, but not much to speak of. Palate is a substantial malt with a nice balance of hops.
Breckenridge Red Ale is a full bodied and full flavored red ale that will not disappoint. Good stuff this Breckenridge Red Ale.

This beer pours into a deep dark red color with a very malty aroma. The main flavor character is that of a very prominent malt with hints of caramel and dark roasted malts. The body is very smooth but fails to really mellow out the very malty sweet character. The hop presence is quite mellow. Overall an OK brew.

Stand-out color and on-par with Killian's and the like. In other words an easy drinking and agreeable flavor that you don't have to think about, just enjoy.

Looks like any run of the mill red ale. Dark red in color, good clarity w/ a thin head. Caramel malt aroma dominates, but earthy and slightly grassy Willamette (like Fuggles, but cleaner) hop asserts itself also. As the beer warms biscuit malt becomes noticeable. The relatively low carbonation contributes to the smooth mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Hop bitterness is above average for a red and manages to overpower the malt sweetness, but only barely. Malt flavors aren't complex and are a combination of crystal malt and perhaps some Munich malt. Finishes w/ clean hop bitterness and bready malt flavors. An all around clean and drinkable (albeit unexciting) brew.

deep ruby color...thin head subsides to a wispy lace. muted smell of roasted malts and the citrusy hops. more malt body and taste than others from breckenridge previously reviewed. now we're talking! fruity hop profile again lends itself to the taste profile but it's a little more on the bitter side, which i find appealing. i'd say this one is better than the pale and avalanche ales. recommended.

Pretty flavorful for a red ale...an unexpected bitterness present at first taste, but it subsides nicely and lends some balance to this sweeter than most "red"..i haven't found any "great" reds, but this is probably the best I've had....Despite some not so good reviews for this brewery from some I've read elsewhere, I'm finding the "Breck" line pretty decent..next up is their "Oatmeal Stout"...that will be the true litmus test
