A Rich, Malty Ale with a Touch of Sea Salt.

This toasted, nutty, classic American Brown Ale gets its rich flavors and medium body from a generous supply of caramel malts. What makes this Mountain Series beer extra special is ancient sea salt, which creates a new dimension to the flavor profile and works with the hops in the finish.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A nice dark copper color, mostly red in appearance for the body than brown. Real nice color, with clarity as well. Head is a light khaki and creamy appearance, but minimal head creation off the pour, standing at maybe just under two fingers in height, and settling to a simple bowled collar and puck.

Aroma is a bit surprising. Much more sense of classic brown ale quality, but with an American somewhat hop forward quality. Touches a bit of toast and brown bread crust, with a hoppy aroma of pine and earth. Not sensing much caramel quality or salt, but a very nice hop forward brown for sure.

Palate makes a bette mark, but not in the way I expected. Definitely a thick mouthfeel but not overly so. Mid palate hits with spicy hop and pine mixing in with some light toasty flavors. The caramel is apparent in the body thickness, but more so in the aftertaste where the salt and caramel finally makes an appearance on the palate. Light touches of hop astringency round out, making for a good cut through the thick caramel sensation also. Hits a little tangy strangely as well of salt.

Aptly named, even quite fun to drink. The thickness and the salt get a little tiring strangely after some time. A decent solid brew though.

L: Pours a reddish brown color with a very small white tan head and no lacing.

S: Sweet caramel, some earthy malt, some vanilla, not an overly strong aroma.

T: Sweet malt, salted caramel, some vanilla, a little too sweet and one note.

F: Medium body, low to medium carbonation.

O: Not a bad beer but just not very interesting.

L: Mahogany body with an off white head.

S: Caramel malt and some nutty aromas.

T: Definitely caramel present. Mild salt. Finishes sweet and salty. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.

F: Moderate body and carbonation.

O: Interesting to try, but it's not something I would want again.

Initial taste is far too heavy on the salt but as your pallet adjusts it becomes less overwhelming. The beer definitely has strong caramel notes as well as some more subtle nutty notes. Overall I would say this is a decent example of a brown ale but I would have preferred if it was slightly less salty. Definitely a good way to switch things up.

This is a beautiful chestnut colored liquid with a thick off-white head. The aroma has a nutty, caramel and medium-roast malt note. The taste has a fullness from the salt, which brings out more caramel notes than expected. That, along with the nutty, toasted quality is very pleasant. Low hop flavors, but enough bitterness to balance. Full in body. Very nice.

Poured from a 12oz bottle with no clear bottled on date; into a pint glass.
Appearance- Amber with nice carbonation but a quickly receding white head. Lacing is nowhere to be found.
Smell - I primarily pick up sweet caramel malts, but there is the slightest touch of salted caramel candy.
Taste - interesting; this does have a distinct sweet and salty flavor profile, and I must admit, I kind of dig it!
Feel - medium mouthfeel with good carbonation; sweet and salty and full of flavor!
Overall - definitely surprised me; this was a very enjoyable brown ale that I would certainly have again.
