This begins horribly. Two brown room temperature bottles don't immediately fit into a clear glass liter mug. The big stark white foam, despite a deliberate slow pour, prevented that convenience. Now, the head is receding unevenly and leaving sparse lacing. The color is a standard light, mildly cloudy copper-amber. This always, not almost always, means a beer has been starched into blandness and a thin body. The aroma is faint of Strata hops and nothing more. The body is light and thin, no surprise. There is mostly a mild dose of hops, single dimensioned, that goes through exactly no change from start to finish. What is the purpose of removing most of the malt body from an IPA? Marginally better than the average commercial lager, the current abundance of these soft AIPAs may be why some hop lovers are trying other varieties.
