i think they are calling this one dark rider now, instead of black rider. a really grapefruity and bitter black ipa with just the right amount of roast and coffee bitterness from breck, this must be a breckenridge location only brew, as i havent seen it at the other spots, but super dig it, they should think about bottling it. dark brown in color almost black, not real thick in body, and not real heady, but loaded with flavor. tons of citrus to it, especially in the finish, rind of grapefruit and orange, not stupid complex, but a lot going on. zesty hops and rather bitter unmalted roasted barley in high dose, and a decently robust alcohol intensity. overall i liked this a lot, one of those unsung delicious beers nobody knows about. six packs would be great, but its definitely the go at the brewery when you are swinging through breck.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery. Served in a pint glass. Pours a dark blackish color with a thin tan head. Nose has roasty malts and bitter hops. Taste a bit dull and one sided. Lacks complexity, but a decent beer to wash down a burger. Nice clean body, but a thin finish.
