Big Muddy Brewing

More of a tourist trap for the locals. If you enjoy promotions, this is your place, but understand this is what it takes to be a profitable business in a very limited market. Widest selection of Pumpkin beers possible. High prices, long lines, frazzled help. So so beer.

Fun stop on cross country trip. Beer was good, different, which was nice but a little out of our wheelhouse of fav styles. But, we dont rate based on preference, only on whether it meets style.

This is my kind of place, nothing fancy, no frills and easy going people that are easy to get along with.

 

The bar is inside the brewery so nothing fancy but the owner and his bartenders are the nicest people you could ever meet. They usually have 8 ti 10 beers on tap of a wide variety.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Did a quick "tour" earlier this Spring. Finding the building is a little difficult as they don't have a sign out front.

The brewery itself is housed in a long farm building split between a shipping area on one end and the brewing equipment, vats, and bar on the other. I put quotes "tour" as the operation is in plain sight, but there was a part time employee who was happy to explain their brewing process and show off the equipment.

The real reason to check out Big Muddy is the beer. For $6 you get a souvenier glass and a tasting of every beer they have on tap. For us that was 9 different brews, which included some seasonal selections along with their regular brews.

Visting Big Muddy is a great way to spend a weekend afternoon.
