BOTTLE: 50cl. Brown glass. Orange label. Black pry-off crown cap.
4.20% ABV.
Served cold into a mason jar in Kuopio, Finland. Expectations are average on account of the brewery. Reviewed live as a pale ale per the label.
A: Head is ~3-3.5 inches wide. White-khaki colour. Nice consistency. Good complexion. Soft looking, with nice creaminess.
Body is a clear copper of average vibrance. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Sm: Piney & herbal hops dominate. Has a pale malt undertone. Some odd twiggy notes. Overall, it suggests an imbalanced and underwhelming pale ale.
Aromatic intensity is average.
T: Severely imbalanced, with some off-putting twiggy and herbal notes. Pale malt sweetness ties it together, but it never feels cohesive - let alone gestalt. Simple and shallow, with a subpar build. I'm not liking it much.
Mf: Smooth and wet. Overcarbonated. Unrefreshing. Medium-bodied. Doesn't bring out the best in the flavour profile, nor does it elevate the beer as a whole. There's no harmony of texture and taste.
O: Drinkable, but low quality. A forgettable pale ale that will fail to satisfy all but the most casual of drinkers. More mediocrity from Vakka-Suomen.
