The Spring 2009 Seasonal was Belgian Breakfast Rhubarb Ale. Not many have tried adding rhubarb to beer, so the challenge was there to present a beer with rhubarb goodness. The result was a refreshing Autumn ale with rhubarb present.

Tried on tap at Paddy's Brewers Market Festival. Brewed at Hunter Beer Co, for Doctors Orders.
Pours a very pale hazy sandy yellow colour, with a little insipid head of white foam. Some decent lacing. Head is a bit disappointing, but the body looks pretty good.
Very light on the nose. A little pepper and a tad of spice, but it's quite weak. If you're looking for it, you can recognise the Belgian yeast note, but it, again, is very subdued.
Some roundness on the palate, Belgian buttery sweetness, with a crisp dry finish and perhaps just a touch of acidity. Not sure about the rhubarb, but Craig the brewer apologetically stated that he knows there's not a huge rhubarb character to it - the acidity is perhaps the only tell. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth though, with a good body.
I felt bloated a little after this one. There are some decent notes to it, and it's got a pleasantly soft, rounded palate. It's just a bit weak, and I found myself struggling with it a little. This is perhaps why it's the only Rhubarb flavoured beer I've yet seen.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
