On-draught @ Riverside. 500ml for 2.89 leva.
A: Pours an off-white cap of 2cm width, which recedes inside 6 minutes leaving no lacing. Consistency is even, but it could be softer looking.
Body is a bright yellow which lacks the turbidity/haziness of the style. Average vibrance.
Appears well-carbonated.
Sm: Banana, soft wheat, cream, cheap pilsner/helles malts.
Aromatic intensity is average. Lacks the estery yeast character of superior beers in the style.
T: Stale wheat and cheap malts. A hint of banana. Simple and shallow. Unwanted bitterness on the finish. Slight metallic off flavour.
Mf: Overcarbonated. Smooth, wet, and light, but not soft enough to refresh.
O: Drinkable forgettable schlock from one of Sofia's only real brewpubs. I'd sooner go for ale house's beer when in Sofia, but this is okay fare. I have no desire for a second. The metallic taste is ruinous.
D+ / NOT RECOMMENDED

Poured from the tap into a large mug at River Side Brewpub in Sofia.
A: The beer is a slightly cloudy though somewhat pale gold color topped with 2.5 fingers of pure white head with OK retention.
S: Very wheaty with touches of green apple. A nice bready character back everything up.
T: Crisp light fruits - apples, pears, a hint of honeydew. Wheat bread in the midpalate. Finishes with what seems to be biscuit and wheatgrass and a lingering yeastiness.
F: Crisp all the way through. Very fresh tasting and refreshing, especially after climbing up the hill to the brewpub, which is one the side of a mountain next to a national park.
D: Overall a good beer, especially in Bulgaria where there aren't a lot fo wheat options. River Side/HBH is one of the hidden gems of Bulgaria's beer scene.
