Big malt and low hopping. Big Alcohol with restrained alcoholic warmth. This year, 40 pounds of Italian Plum was added to fermentation which added more fermentable sugar and carried some flavor through perceived as citrus sweetness.

This year’s version is gently spiced with whole Tellicherry peppercorns to add a background spice and complexity. Tellicherry whole black peppercorns are left on the vine longer so they develop a deep, rich flavor. Considered the finest pepper in the world, these extra-large berries come from the Malabar coast of India.

Black peppercorns are picked from the vine just before they ripen and turn red. As they dry, the berries turn black. This particularly large, more mature, berry has a full, robust flavor described as almost fruity.

We are serving it in a snifter to keep in all the yummy flavor and aroma. If let to warm up a bit, all the juicy malt aroma comes to the front.

Poured a nice brownish red delivering a sweet slight spice smell with booze in the background.

Good malt presence, warm and smooth. Notes of spice and the sweetness of the malt finishs in with the alcohol. I finished two glasses rather quick for a beer with an 8.3 ABV. McCoy's has done justice to this style.
