We used our traditional malts, English Hops and our House Lager yeast to give it a crisp, dry finish. Roasted malt flavor with balanced, floral hops. Fermented with our house lager yeast for a smooth, clean finish.

A - Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. The long-lasting head receded to leave sheets of lace on the glass.

S - Good roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate notes and a slight floral hop presence.

T - Very nice roasty malt flavor with toffee, dark chocolate and caramel. There is a grassy, bitter hop presence.

M - It was crisp, sharp and very smooth. A medium-bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - Very fine porter. Definitely worth a try when you stop by McCoy's.

A: Black body with a lightly tan head, tight bubbles.

S: Sweet malty nose with hints of roasty coffee.

T: More roastiness, notes of chocolate and an acidic bite from the carbonation and a mild hop note.

M: Moderate mouthfeel, lighter body than a lot of porters and a bit more fizzy carbonation.

D: Despite the variances, overall makes for a great cold weather session beer. I wait for it every year.

For those curious, abv is 5.6%.

Poured a deep brown and maroon with a dense dark tan head with moderate retention.
Aroma of coffee, chocolate, malted barley and some dark, grainy breadcrust.
Flavor dominated by the burnt caramel and chocolate notes with just a hint of nuttiness. Well done.
Mouthfeel was thicker than ABV would indicate, nice balance of sweet malts and aggressive bittering give this a real classic porter feel. Falls off a bit right at the end as it kinds of gets almost watered down but very pleasant.
Drinkability was high, stood up well the powerful smokes we had a decently spicy burger. Could have sipped on these puppies all afternoon but the in-laws and wife are calling.

Deep brown, w/ traces of garnet. Tight, dense tan head leaves excellent lace. Assertive, stout like roasted barley and hop bitterness dominates. Strong dark caramel malt presence provides balance. As the beer warms, slightly softer carbonaceous, smokey black patent adds complexity. Moderate body, with a drying, slightly minerally mouthfeel. A touch over attenuated. Finishes dry w/ hints of burnt malt and fleeting hop bitterness. A delicious porter, and pleasantly hoppy. With a fuller malt backbone this would be outstanding. Treads the sketchy boundary between porters and stouts and does it well.
