This Barrel aged Belgian is comprised of a blend of three different styles. The first is a Belgian Golden Strong ale aged in Viognier barrels. The second was a sour blonde aged in neutral Red wine barrels. The third was an Imperial grisette aged in Bourbon barrels. The three were blended, and Octavia was born.

First day on draft at Ladyface, 8th Anniversary ale. 1/15/18. Tried on draft, 10oz pour.
Pours smoothly, barely any head, but with some sticky residual patches of lace. The color is a deep golden, almost amber. Great so far.
The nose is full of oak barrel, hints of sherry. Slight booze, and strong, dry tartness rings true.
Strong, tart fruit. Bitter, oaky, and again, boozy. Great characteristics to this beer. The yeast didn’t go too crazy and the result over the 3 year barrel maturation is astounding.
Smooth, tart, medium bodied, and with a nice burn down the hatch. Honestly the only indicator that this beast is 13% ABV.
I’m impressed with this. The result of over three years of work and waiting and the result was very much worth it. Boozy, dry, fruity, oaky.. everything you’d want. Cheers!
