On tap at the brewery.
Appearance: Dark, cloudy chestnut brown capped by a rich mousse-like head.
Aroma: This was open-fermented, and there's a definite funk to the nose. Sulfur, soap, banana, mild sourness and toasted grain.
Taste/mouthfeel: Very sulfuric and yeasty; the funk and sourness don't fit the style well. There's a touch of chocolate and toasted grain, but the yeast didn't give much of the signature banana/clove flavors I'd expect. Body is thin, and the finish is soapy and astringent, mildly grainy and toasty but more sour than anything.
