As much as I like the products of microbreweries, every once in a while one of those beers doesn't live up to the expectations.

Announced as a new artisanal kriekbier, this was a bit of a disappointment. It shouldn't even be called a kriekbier, technically. It's a witbier (I suspect it may actually even be a lager) with cherry juice blended in and then refermented.

Cherry sour smell and... well, cherries.
Taste? Too sweet, way too sweet. Okay, there's some tartness from the cherries and a suspicious lager-ish base to it. Leaves a sticky finish. Maybe it might grow with aging, but the one we tasted was bland, flat, uninspiring.
At best, a nice try, but I for one am not sorry this was a limited brew.
