Pours a very nice deep brown/near black with a bit of initial head and a bit of initial lacing. Very deep bourbon scent; hints of coffee and roasted malts underneath, but for the most part a very whiskey aroma. Good flavors; the tastes from the stout do find their way through, but it is very much a bourbon barrel stout, with a lot of whiskey tones that tamp the roasted grains. Goes down very smoothly for a "sipping whiskey-beer." I think imperial stouts go better with bourbon barrels, and would like to see the crew at MBC try that sometime.

appearance: pours a heavy dark brown, no foam, leaves next to no lacing (either something wrong with their taps or this just isn't very carbonated).
smell: slightly smokey malts with even lighter oaky undertone.
taste: the malts are subdued and watered-down, there is a bold oaked presence that is mild yet not dissapointing.
drinkability: overall very subdued, little carbonation, not particularly bold for an oaked stout, but the bourbon oakiness is rather unique and worth a try.
