12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/21/2017. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/light copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.2%. Overall this is an awesome Midwest style DIPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the balanced bitter finish. Really juicy and fruity on hops; sizable malt backbone, but not overly sweet or heavy. A really enjoyable offering.

Appearance- from a hardy pour into my m22 pint glass. it's a slight transparent amber color with a slight off white frothy head. leaves some solid lacing.
Aroma- a very slight floral hop scent. not bad but very muted.
Flavor- floral hops blended with some heavy biscuit malt action. bready. a slight off flavor like a slight bubblegum note or something from the yeast. bitterness is there. to me it's nothing crazy but I could see others saying it's too much. alcohol is well hidden which is a plus.
Mouthfeel- medium /heavy bodied. good carbonation.
Drinkability- can easily kill five out of the six pack.
Overall- so far this is the best beer I've had from north peak but that's not saying much. i'm more of a hophead and not to crazy about balanced ipa's but this brew seems to blend fine. I would love for this brew to be more hop flavored but it's not bad the way it is. I tried their regular diabolical years back and thought it wasn't nothing to write about. one and done ipa. this is better. the people who whine about ipa's not being balanced should really enjoy this brew.
