Pours a deep and dark burgundy with a transparent hue to it. Head is three fingers of dense khaki foam that retains extremely well. Aroma is cherry - tart - with hints of fig, raisins, roasty, toasty and earthy malts. Depth isn't very big. Flavor profile is cherries, figs, raisins and earthy, toasty, nutty, roasty malts. It has a strong bitter undertone. Mouth feel is lightly creamy with just a light grit taking away from it. It has a medium thickness. Overall, cherry is certainly abundant with a so-so porter behind it.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 12oz stubby bottle.

Poured from a stubby, brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cola color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts. Taste is dominated by roasted malts, light alcohol and cherries in the background. feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is decent, but nothing special.

Hmmmmmm still good, still interesting, different in many ways. This is not a sweet beer like I thought it would be. This has some different tones to it, mainly a porter coffee flavor that finishes strong and more bitter than I thought it would be.

From a stubby bottle, this brew is a dark, brownish color with a wonderfully dense off-white head. The aroma is of chocolate, malt, and lots of red cherry. The taste has plenty of fruit, cocoa, and a little centering bitterness. Full in body. Well made and enjoyable.

12 FL OZ bottle
Served in a Michigan Wolverines pint glass
This beer pours a deep brown with crystal clear ruby highlights. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
The smell is roasted malt, cocoa, and chocolate covered cherries.
The taste is cocoa, roasted malt, and cherry. I get hints of chocolate and a little black coffee in the finish.
It is kind of thinner than I like my porters, but not too bad
This is a pretty solid beer. I wasn't expecting much. It exceeded my lowly expectations and is down right palatable. I would drink it again.

Pours a light beige-brown to form a darker more dark brown body. Head is 2 fingers tall and leaves nice legs as it recedes.
Aromas of hot asphalt, roasted malt, and slight metallic sour cherry.
Flavor is a mouthful of dirt, followed by blood, and hints of fermented cherry skin. A lot like getting sacked hard on the football field.
Feel is creamy all the way through, bordering on nitro, with a soft and supple carbonation. Nice roasted finish. Best part about this beer.
Overall, a drain pour. Anything that tastes like blood and dirt to me is not worth drinking. I think cherries are hard to bring to life in a thick beer like a porter without use of extracts and natural flavoring - of which this beer has none - and what you get is basically a dirty slightly sour mess.

12oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled a little smokey with cherry and roasted malt. Nice smokey flavor with very mild hints of cherry. Good coffee roastiness.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/7/2017. Pours lightly hazy very dark brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap, Aromas of lightly tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, cherries, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cherries, fruit skin, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light smoke/char, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cherries, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky/chalky, and slightly tangy/acidic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is a delicious American style cherry porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cherries, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich and well rounded porter malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and nice authentic cherry presence that isn't overdone. The base porter is the main flavor showcase, complemented by the cherries. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
