Notes from 5/3/10
The pour is pitch black with a long lasting 1 finter head. There is not much carbonation present, as to be expected from the cask. A stir of the glass presents good lacing.
The first thing I notice in the smell is an oaky bourbon like scent. There is a bit of malty sweet smell with some raisin in there too.
There is a prominent woodsy oak flavor that comes through after a watery first taste. The oak seems almost fake. Dark malts dominate the middle taste which miss any substantial hop finish. There is a mild burnt yeasty aftertaste which leaves my mouth tasting dirty.
There is hardly anything going on in terms of mouthfeel. The beer is extremely thin, not sure how they got 6% out of it.
This is drinkable, as in, easy to drink a lot of them because of the watery quality. But I wouldn't want to because it isn't that great.
