750ml cork and cage bottle for $38CDN from the LCBO. Served cool into a trappist glass. Bottle 12,641/34,000.
Appearance - Pours a hazy dark brown with some reddish hues in there too. A small half finger of foamy light tan head is poured and recedes quite quickly leafy a creamy dollop of head at the end.
Smell - Complex notes of dark fruit, marshmallow, vanilla, grape, and whiskey. Dark and handsome for sure. Barrel is subdued manner all over the place too.
Taste - Caramel, marshmallow, dark fruit, oak, vanilla, leather. Medium-low bitterness, but not a ton of sweteness either. Very balanced. Whiskey whispers here and there with oak and dark fruits being most prominent.
Mouthfeel - Smooth, well carbonated, full bodied, but rather velvety texture.
Overall - A great example of high-end craftsmanship in brewing.
