Too malty for me. When I drink an APA, I want it hop forward, this beer is too malty. I'm sure some people like the balance but it doesn't work for me.

an old school and decently crafted pale ale here, very old school to me, very northwest, c type hop profile here, bitter enough, but also well malty, with a pale amber color to it, a lasting khaki head, and some richer toasted crystal character in both the aroma and the flavor to balance the hops, very classically styled in that way, and drinkable enough even with the grain. the hops are all the way through this, not just at the end, bitter the whole time, some pine popping in, bitter orange peel, wet grass. the beer has some mild sweetness most of the way too, but its never too much. this might make the prominent dry hop profile the best pales of the modern age all seem to have, but i reckon its objectively pretty well made. there is a curious sort of german element to the malt here, and an almost english yeast thing, like a maibock meets an esb, which might again be explained by this being a gordon beirsch thing, quality is there, even if maybe some of the ingredient choices are a little strange for an american pale. this is sort of balanced in that way where the elements cancel rather than enhance each other, but in any event, this isnt bad if you like your pale ale bitter and fairly malt forward, ill have no problem drinking the rest of these, especially at this low price!

A fairly malty beer with hops balanced out at a middling level of bitterness. Leaves a slightly sweet after taste and feel in the mouth that I found enjoyable.

L:. Pours a copper orange color with a large foamy white head and lacing all around the glass.

S:. Some caramel, butterscotch, nut, a tad bit of hop, not the most enticing aroma, definitely a bit of diacetyl.

T:. Strong floral and skunky hop, notes of caramel, quite a strong bitterness for a pale ale.

F:. Smooth carbonation, medium body.

O:. This a below average APA.

No need to diss this beer just because it’s from Costco. It’s okay.
It’s not a Sierra or a Stone but at least it’s brewed in San Jose so I get the West Coast feeling coming through, even though it’s a bit on the light side of the tracks - it even reminded me of a semi-home brew. But still it is good enough to enjoy backing it down. It comes in a pack of six anyway so you can session it as you want.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of pale malt, sorghum, slight citrus hops, and slight tea. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Unfortunately there is a metallic note as well. Tastes of pale malt, sorghum, slight citrus hops, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of floral hops. Overall, weak appearance, aroma, and feel.

Part of a 24-pack Costco $22.99
Smells of wheat
Clear golden amber-tinged color
Medium-light mouthfeel
Medium carbonation
Some Malt flavors, wheat taste, bitter aftertaste. 4 months left until best by date, but has an old taste. Only type in box like that.
Overall my least favorite in the box. Wouldn't want it again.
