Brewed with Belgian Pilsner, Munich malt, and a touch of roasted barley. Extensive aging in Cabernet barrels and re-blending yields dark chocolate, dark fruits, oak, and tobacco notes.

The beer is a really pretty dark black with a thin maduro brown head. The nose is full of roasted malts with a bright apple undertone with a bit of metallic off notes, the taste is dominated by a strong apple flavors that meld into a strong coffee dark malt flavor that is finished with a touch of coffee. An interesting and well executed mix, even if it is an odd combination of flavors, what a great looker though.

Oak and vinupus aromas greeted me initially. Slight roasty aroma as well. Color is opaque brown with tan head which fades, leaving some lacing on the glass. Flavor is slight chocolate with roasted malt flavor. Finish is very vinuous and dry with a spicy note or two from the yeast. Mouthfeel is medium with moderare carbonation. Though carbonated it is smooth. Overall - if you like wine and beer this is a great marriage of the best of both. Description reads "extensive aging in Cabernet barrels." Not as Belgian-like as I expected but still pleasingly surprising.
