Description: Denali's Schwarzbier is an ode to Alaska's Raven, a well-known trickster with an attitude. We blended traditional Pilsner and dark German malt with light noble hops, conjuring up subtle flavors of chocolate and coffee that gives way to a crisp, clean lager finish. This wintry beer is sure to fool your palate in the most pleasurable way.

Tastes of dark malt and light char with a hint of chocolate and light coffee. It's a bit thin and leaves the palate rather quickly and has a light mouthfeel.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass, with a two finger fizzy light brown head that dissipates quickly leaving tiny patches. Aroma of chocolate malt, cocoa, drip coffee, hints of char. Flavor follows aroma with dark malt, chocolate and light coffee, with a somewhat tart and stark finish, with lingering chocolate and coffee notes. Light to medium bodied with lots of carbonation. Hits all the notes for a schwarzbier, although a bit light in flavor. The finish mild tartness and the fizzy pour may indicate a less than standard can, so I'm not sure if the finish is typical for this lager.
