Poured dark ruby red with almost no head and no lacing.
Taste the tart red ale up front intermingled with green apple and spices. Unfortunately it was rather thin and could be much more.

L: Pours a muddy almost tootsie roll brown with very little head and no lacing on the glass.
S: Notes of caramel, a light hint of fall spices, with a hint of tartness, a bourbon that is present but not overwhelming, and hints of vanilla, definitely a wintery beer.
T: Sweet bourbon, vanilla, and caramel, intermix with a light fall spice and a light tartness. A nice wintery beer.
F: A little watery body not quite as thick as expected.
O: A very enjoyable beer that fits the harshness of Alaska.

As per the brewery description: "Flagstop train service in Alaska fulfills various needs, from transporting residents and their supplies to remote cabins, to ferrying River Runners to points along our precious waterways. We are proud to live and grow in a community that remains tied to the traditional American mode of transportation. So climb aboard and make your way to mileposts along this foamy adventure. Milepost 5 is are Alaskan take on a traditional favorite - our Wassail inspired Imperial red ale combines tart green apples, locally harvested highbush cranberries, and mulling spices. Aged in Bourbon barrels and bottle conditioned, the result is a malty, tart, and spicy winter delight, perfect for celebrating the Holidays! This beer is best enjoyed between 45 to 50 degrees F. Waes hael!"
Purchased from the brewpub in Talkeetna, Alaska. Enjoyed that night.
L: Pours a cloudy medium cinnamon brown. Three fingers of creamy off-white head. Great lacing.
S: Apple cider spices... booze and vanilla. Oak.
T/F: Ridiculously complex. Festive and spicy with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Some sweetness from the malts and apples... tartness from the apples and cranberries, and effervescent carbonation. Finish is dry and sticky. Boozy and warming but hides the ravaging ABV. Bourbon and vanilla present but in the background. Very pleasant.
O: Wow was this a lot to process and unlike just about anything else I've ever had. It's like a spiced winter warmer, an Imperial Red Ale, and a tart Lambic had an illicit love child and aged it in Bourbon. Just fantastic, and a high ABV sipper.
