Clear dark copper in hue, topped by a thin but dense off white head that leaves web like lace. Buttery, toffee like malt notes, caramelized fruit melaniodins & toasty Munich suggest a decoction mash. Caramunich sweetness upfront gives way to rich, buttered toast notes, while drier biscuit sweetness persists as an undertone. The malt and mash derived fruitiness when couple with the inherent sweetness distinctly date like. A touch weak in body for a bock, but the crisp, light mouthfeel helps lend excellent drinkability. Mohren Bock was a nice surprise, and although not amongst the best examples for style, it still possess much more depth in flavor than most US microbrewed versions.
