On-tap at Callahan's, San Diego.
Seems to be a one-off black IPA.
Pours a dark brown/black color. Creamy dark head is pretty thick aqt first, but has little retention. Good lacing, though. The aroma is definitely a mix of hops and slightly bitter roasted malts. Taste-wise it is similar, with some citrus, but with the malts definitely having the upper hand. Coffee and chocolate are apparent, and it has a very roasted feel overall. The aftertaste is predominately bitter, roasted malts. Medium-bodied and generally smooth. It is tasty and pretty enjoyable, but for a black IPA this is a bit heavy-handed on the roast malts. Although I really enjoy this style, I had to switch it up after one pint.
