It smells like rancid baby farts. There isn't a nice way to say it. The flavors were pleasant with a soft maltiness, but very little in the way of pumpkin or pumpkin spice.

This was one of the General Sutter's Monthly Cask Night Offerings on Friday, 30 October 2009.
This was the evening's gravity-poured offering so the head was simply a dusting of sudsy bubbles which held up better than expected. Color was a deep amber with NE-quality clarity. Lots of spices on the nose - cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove, as far as I could tell. Mouthfeel was a little thin with a slightly powdery feel on the tongue as though it had been saturated with spices and some of them did not attenuate. The spiciness was there on the tongue, but it was not as prevalent as the nose had led me to expect. The finish was quite dry, bordering on astringent, with a taste of roasted butternut squash lingering. I like the style and I can generally drink two of the better ones, but in this case, one was more than enough.
