On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival -on the list as a Belgian Styel Quad- Poured a deeper and clear orange color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, citrus, and caramel. Tastes of dark fruits, toasted caramel, and fruity.
I had this on tap at the brew pub a few days after at the brew pub. They only had this listed at 7% - hmmm, did they up it to get it to the Festival. Im actually dropping my ratings.

Served in proper glassware at the source, a red-copper with perfect clarity and a 1/4" cream colored cap. Good carbination for this style, head settles to a ring, leaving no clingy lace.
Sweet malty nose of dark ripe fruits and notes of bubblegum. The alcohol starts to creep through as the brew warms. This brew was closer to 9% ABV, than the 7% listed on the brews menu listing. Very authentic Dubbel aroma.
Sweet and spicy taste, with loads of fruity flavors, including plum, fig, cherry, grape, banana, some candi sugar and a spicy yeast, with a warming finish from the alcohol.
Medium plus body, complimentary carbonation and a smooth warming alcohol make this a very pleasant sweet sipper. Skillfully brewed and a great representation of this style, crafted right here in San Diego...far from Belgium. Nice!
