I had this one on a beer tour and have been coming
back to San Diego brewery ever since for this on

it pours jet black with a faint head

it smells of lots and lots of chocolate and rasberries. This has a very distinct smell to it.

The mouth feel to this one I could pass on but the taste is where it's at. It has one of the richest chocolate taste to it I've ever had and one of the only beers I have had with a prominate rasberry taste as well. The finish is that of a choc candy real thick with dark choc.

I'm not sure this one would be a sessions beer cause of it's thickness in chocolate but it's pretty damn good. I also found out that they actually use chocolate bars in he brewing process. Good stuff!!!

On-tap at Blue Palms

A: The pour is very dark brown in color, possibly black, with a finger's worth of tan head.

S: The nose is not good to begin with with. Far too much sweet, artificial raspberry, with dark chocolate, and a mild roasted malt aroma.

T: The flavor was not any more enjoyable. The raspberries are overly sweet and artificial tasting, and they completely dominate the beer. The chocolate doesn't really have a chance to come through, nor do the roasted malts. There is a touch of tartness on the finish, but not enough to save the beer.

M: The body is medium with moderate carbonation which provides for a good feel on the tongue.

D: Unfortunately, the fruit just ruins this beer. A little lighter hand with the raspberry syrup/extract would have gone a long way on this one.
