Another Grove Street beer of refined clarity. The Brown Ale is deep mahogany with a smattering of suds and a soft aroma of doughy yeast esters and grain. A light measure of caramel can be smelled though this features more prominently in the taste.
Grove Street's Brown is not typical either as a sweet or nut brown ale. It is a bit nutty, but the bittering is more affirmed, more sharply pronounced. At times the beer tips towards porter territory with some toastiness and a light coffee finish. But regardless of style comparisons, this ale is a pleasure to consume.
