I drank an early version of this ale that probably won't be duplicated as I knew it. In fact, Old Tollie was originally intended as an IPA, but a mechanical malfunction complicated the brewing process resulting in this improvised recovery beer. Given the beer's unintentional design, it's remarkably complex and tasty. Outwardly, it resembles a simple pale ale. It's pale gold and sunny with minimal carbonation and no lace. But the malt profile is wonderfully twisted, with a gnarled nuttiness and a smell of pure honey. The lack of body was its only appreciable deficit.
