Undated can. Pours a beery looking yellow gold with a quickly receding white head, leaving some spotty lacing.
Citrus and pine aroma. Taste follows the aroma, some sweetness on the finish. ABV well hidden. My first beer from Tribes. Not bad at all.

12oz can, no apparent freshness date. Copper colored ale with a frothy beige head; nice lacing left on the glass. Aroma is floral hop, earthy pine, and zesty citrus with a caramel malt backbone. Bold and balanced flavors with an assertive hop presence of earthy pine, orange and grapefruit zest, a bit herbal &floral; big malt backbone with notes of bread crust, caramel malt, and clover honey. Full body, resinous and sticky, alcohol is very well concealed, bitter finish with pine and some yeast lingering. Now that I've had a couple of this brewery's ales, I'm realizing I'm not crazy over their house yeast. With this one having the bigger and bolder flavors, it's less obvious, but the yeast has a certain spiciness on the aftertaste that could be mistaken for off-flavors. Unfortunately, it takes away from the beer in my opinion.

Bright gold draft, lasting surface skim and minor lacing.
Aroma is sharp, noticeable alcohol and sweet honey.
Taste is heavy on honey but has more bitterness to balance, but not a lot of hop character.
Medium bodied, fairly clean finish but there's a lingering honey sweetness.
Overall not my favorite, it's a little unbalanced with the booze and sweetness.
Tribes has yet to impress, and there appears to be some phony homerism with the ratings.

This is a remarkable rendition of a west coast IPA. In fact, many west coast brewers could take a lesson out of the page of this one. From the start, this beer has an absolutely gorgeous, clear hue. The smell wafts of pungent hops yet topic fruitiness also takes center stage. The taste is a wonderful hop wallop to the taste buds without being overly dry nor sweet because of the higher ABV. This is simply a splendid beer.
