Vibe: From the looks of this place, you might think that this is a typical convenience store with a generic beer selection. However, when I saw "The World of Beers" written on the sign and lots of different beer bottles in the window, I decided that it was worth venturing in to take a look. When I walked in, I was still skeptical because most of the customers seemed to be lined up at the counter buying their lotto tickets, but I proceeded to the back and found two and a half coolers filled with beer.
Quality: Nearly all of the beer is stored in coolers and all of them are kept far away from sunlight. The selection seems to change on a weekly basis so I assume they the store has fairly good turnover and beer is kept fresh.
Service: Nobody ever asked me if I needed any help, although this is a convenience store and I wasn't expecting any. The cashiers seem friendly and on some occasions they have given me free glassware.
Selection: The store has quite a diverse selection of beers ranging from malt liquors to Belgian ales. They have a lot of singles in the form of bombers and four/six packs of some beers. It seems every time I stop in here I found some type of interesting beer that I haven't tried before, the most interesting being a Russian Imperial Stout from Chile.
Value: Most of the beers don't have price tags, but don't expect any bargains here as it's a convenience store and you're paying for convenience.

For a run of the mill average looking convenience store/bodega in NYC, the selection of beer here is rather good. From the outside this place looks like any other bodega that you see on pretty much every block in NYC. Also, when you first enter the beer is not really that visible as it is located way the in the back of the store with a couple of case along the side walls at the back and the entire back wall (all refrigerated) and just a small amount of inventory at room temperature.
The beer is way in the back and not in direct sunlight but the refrigerators are fairly brightly light with fluorescent lights. The beers in general sell fairly quickly and I have not personally noticed a lot of beers that are out of code.
I don't think any of the people that work at the store are very knowledgeable about beers but they are mostly friendly and generally get you checked out pretty quickly.
Almost all of the beers are available as singles - both the 12 oz bottles/cans and of course the bombers. There is a pretty good selection - lots of regional brews, nothing too special or crazy but a decent selection and better than most bodegas in NYC.
This is one of the few bodegas that only carries a small amount of grocery items and does not seem to have any deli counter or prepared foods for sale.
Prices are quite reasonable.
