Our Kölsch is a bright, light-bodied, moderately hopped golden ale/lager hybrid beer. We ferment and age it at lower temperatures than most of our ales to make it especially smooth, clean and refreshing. "Crisp" and "spritzy" are words that might come to mind when you try it.

on tap at the brew pub. part of the 3 ounce sampler.

The Kolsch pours a clear golden color with no head whatsoever. Smell is very refreshing with plenty of oranges and malts. Taste is spot on. A nice hop finish that is preceded with grapes, oranges, and malts. This is a really good tasting kolsch. Mouthfeel is thin and refreshing. Drinkability is solid. Will look to this in the future.

Pours a clear, pale golden color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight pale malt, yeast, and slight hops. Fits the style of a Kolsch. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, slight sweet malt, yeast, slight hop, and a grain dryness. Overall, a rather well balanced beer, no overpowering dryness, light, and refreshing.

A: Typical yellow. OK head, nice rention.

S: It's a Kolsch. Not much nose, but did pick up some honey.

T: You can tell it's a Kolsch from the yeast. No cheating here! Some sweetness, finishes nice and crisp. A bit of green apple, or pear picked up also.

M: Again, crisp, light, very slight citrus bitterness at the back.

D: Can't wait until a 90 degree STL summer day for this. Schlafly maker an awesom Kolsch here locally. Six-Row is at least on it's heals. Nicely done.

The kolsch came out with a clear straw yellow, topped by a small white head. Very subtle beer in all aspects - aroma had the slightest hint of spice and malt. Pretty much ditto for the quaff, except for a pop of resinous wood in the finish. Bright and clean, it's a very easy going beer.

A standard kolsch, it misses a bit with the winter tempatures and climate. It will work much better in the summer STL heat.
