Inspired by the Trappist beers of Belgium, the Six Row Dubbel is a rich, malty interpretation of the style. Historically, the Dubbel is brewed to have a higher alcohol content (6-8%ABV) compared to other Belgian beers and can be compared to, but is still stronger, than a Brown Ale. Loads of dark fruit, caramel, and malt flavours dominate this early winter warmer. Just enough noble hop bitterness is added to balance out the sweetness and provide a bit of aroma. Serving the Dubbel in a snifter further enhances the aroma.

Pours a clear, dark amber. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of slight sweet malt, slight roasted malt, hint of yeast, and hint of spice. Fits the style of a Dubbel. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, slight yeast, and slight earthy malt. Overall, just not what I was expecting from a Dubbel. Seemed like more of a dark American Amber, than a Dubbel.

A: Poured hazy brown, limited head.

S: Some sulpher, malts.

T: Sweet malts, some dark fruit, maybe raisin.

M: Medium. Sticky.

D: Nice dubbel. Would like to see a bit of funk in this. Not sure what the ABV is, but I would think it was in the 7-8 % range. Easy to drink.
