22oz bottle gifted from a friend. Released 02/2017. Served in a Jailhouse snifter. Enjoyed 2/11/18.
Pours amber, fairly hazy, with two fingers of fluffy white head. A persistent layer spreads to a rocky crown, leaving lacing galore.
Smells of crisp pilsner malt, cracker, bread and a vague earthy hop character.
The flavor begins like a pilsner but seems to push almost into bock territory. Pale malt and some earthy faintly bitter hops lead into bread, caramel and stone fruit. The alcohol presence is discernible but much smoother that expected for its 9% abv.
Medium full, almost syrupy feel with snappy carbonation. Clean finish of bread, caramel and apricot.
Some fine work by Jailhouse here. The Jury is like pilsner’s malty big brother.
