American Pale Ale was first made popular by Sierra Nevada at the dawn of the American craft beer movement. By showcasing the citrus-heavy American hop varieties, such as Cascade, a new era in American beer was born. Mary Hoppins is a well-balanced beer which neither overwhelms with bitterness, nor under-delivers on aroma. We feature a blend of Citra and Cascade hops for a pleasing mix of orange zest and pine aroma.

Poured on-tap into a pint glass
A: Pours a hazy orange brown. There is a small, off-white head that leaves thin curtains of lace
S: Weak, grassy hop aroma followed by buttery diacetyl. Some toffee malt in the background.
T: A surprising lack of flavor. Bitter grass flavor with some unpleasant alcohol and water. No sweetness from the malt. Rancid, buttery flavor is prominent and the finish is bitter diacetyl.
M: Watery with low carbonation.
O: A very weak effort. No hop presence, huge off flavors and aroma. Bad mouthfeel. The most prominent flavor (butter) is an off-flavor for fuck's sake! I can't believe they would even sell this beer. I would be personally embarrassed to hand someone a pint of this and claim it as my own brew. Tastes like someones first attempt at a home brew. Awful and avoid. Mary's did, however, make a very good burger. If I go again, I'll be sure to get a real beer next time.

S: Lemons, orange, citrus. Biscuit.
T: Seltzer. Biscuit. Some light citrus notes. Has an odd, mild, "chemical" bitterness to it.
M: Light in body. Heavy in carbonation. Leaves an unpleasant residue in the mouth.
D: One was enough. I won't be revisiting this one anytime soon.

Sampled today at the Rec Room bar, review from notes.
Slightly cloudy gold orange, thin flaccid skim of foam that breaks up after the first sip. Slow visible trails of carbonation throughout.
Earthy hop and mild citrus rind in the nose and taste. The menu mentions dry-hopping with Cascade, and some does come through in the mild citrus flavor and mild bitterness in the aftertaste.
The feel is a little too thin and fizzy, and could use more body. It was pretty easy drinking and showed some promise, hopefully it improves more with future batches.
