In some ways this is a typical German Gaststätte, but the beer is several notches better than your average Gaststätte, and the food is surprisingly flavorful as well.
The first night we were there, I had an awesomely spicy goulash, and my companion said his eggs in mustard sauce were good. the vegetarian selection wasn't excellent--I am always upset when there's no spätzle--but there was hummus, and fried cheese, and some other egg dishes we didn't try. That said, we asked our waiter for peanuts in our best German and they never did manage to arrive.
The second night, we just wanted to drink and smoke, so we went to the crowded Raucherraum, and although the peanuts came quickly this time, we were unsure about whether we were supposed to be getting our second (and third) rounds at the table or at the bar. We opted for the bar.
That said, everything else was great--we got a lot of peanuts for the money, the house-brewed beers are all excellent (there's a year-round Rot, Helles, Alt, Hanf, and a cider, and a Rauchbier in the summer, Bock in the winter--also a few local bottles, but nothing special there) and the atmosphere was gemütlich enough. Definitely check it out if you're in Dresden.
