Dark red brown with plenty of foam in the Crooked Line tulip. Foam swirls up with every sip. Really pleasant sudsy mouthfeel. Modest malty aroma.
Roasted malt rules. There is a touch of licorice. Quite nutty and a little sweet. Lighter bodied than a lot of Baltics. This is just nicely bitter at the finish. Kind of unassuming but totally drinkable.
This is one of the bext of the style that I've tasted. Yet another winner from Eagle Rock. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottlecraft in North Park.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a fine half finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark, mildly sweet toasted malt, chocolate, nuts; slightly vegetal. Flavor is mildly toasted malt, milk chocolate, light char, nuts; roasty finish with a light char. Medium bodied with a pleasant light creaminess. A solid, flavorful porter with interesting nutty toasted malt and light char notes. No dark fruit component that seems to be common in a Baltic porter profile, but covers the other bases I hope for in this style. Nicely done.

Bottled on: 9/15/14.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of roasted malt, toasted malt, caramel, and roasted nut aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, roasted nut, and burnt caramel flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with solid toast and roast characteristics all around.
Serving type: bottle.
