On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a light cloudy yellow, looks a lot like a witbier. Fizzy frothy white head, with some gobby lace.

S: Ginger and lemon, almost kombucha like. Spicy.

T: Heavy hits of lemon, ginger and spice, the nose and taste are almost identical. Nice herbal character. Bit light in flavour overall though.

M: Light-bodied, does seem thin at times, clean, crisp carbonation. Certainly refreshing.

O: I liked this almost wit/saison hybrid. I enjoy ginger, so fans of this plant I think would enjoy this. Just wish there was more heft to it.

Pours a lightly hazed pale yellow with a white head. Aromas of bread, lemongrass, and tons of ginger. Maybe a touch of yeast and definitely some spice notes. The flavor has a nice hint of lemongrass, lemon zest, and light, biscuit malt flavor. A decent amount of ginger going on here, and lots of spice, too. A touch of yeast, and a little bit dry on the finish.

On tap for the first anniversary party at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a slightly murky light yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, and some ginger/spice aromas. Taste is much the same with a slightly soapy aftertaste. There is a medium amount of ginger/spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the ginger comes through more in the aroma.

On-tap at Far Bar in Downtown LA. From my understanding, this was Eagle Rock Brewery's Pro-Am submission.

A - Pours a straw blonde color with nice pilsner like bubbles.

S - Ginger hits you straight up, but the ginger is quite different from the ginger notes you get from, say, Hitachino Nest's Real Ginger Brew. It's a bit chemically here. Nice citrus notes as well, along with a peppery and phenolic nose.

T - Kind of an artificial ginger hit right in the front and a hop bitterness in the back end. Middle flavors are a bit citrusy, but the ginger is really overpowering.

M - Nice carbonation, very crisp and bubbly. Pretty much what I'd except from a saison, but id like the carbonation level to be tweeked down just a tad bit.

O - Interesting beer, but just way to gingery for me (and I love ginger). It's less the fact that it's gingery and more that the fact that the ginger just tasted artificial.
