I tried this at the Monk. It poured a clear amber with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of Belgian clove spice. The taste was a nice rendition of most Belgian style ales.. The mouthfeel was medium in body with subtle carbonation. Overall its ok.

Served in a tumbler at Mundelein Brewfest 2014.
Finally, a tripel from the Monky that isn't (as far as I know, anyway) a collaboration with another brewery. It pours a mostly clear golden brass topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises strong clove, mild black pepper, Belgian yeast, cracked wheat, a touch of booze, and some light banana. The taste brings in more of the same, the banana coming on a bit stronger than before, though the clove and pepper still in firm command of the situation. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a solid, thoroughly enjoyable spicy tripel.
