Draft served in a branded can pint glass.
Dark amber with a reddish crimson highlight and good clarity. Thin layer of surface foam and spotty lacing.
Aroma is sweet, with caramelized sugars that would be more appropriate for a Dubbel. Now i'm wondering if they served me the wrong beer...dammit. They stated it was the Maibock when it was served, so here goes nothing.
Taste was cloyingly sweet, caramelized plantains with a grainy middle and finish. Slightly bitter aftertaste.
Carbonation was present when served, but ebbed away by the end of the glass. Medium bodied, sticky sweet, watery.
Overall this beer wasn't great. Not to style as a Maibock, and a poor example of a Dubbel if in fact that's what it was.
This brewpub really seems to be phoning it in, I wouldn't return here on purpose.

Served in a shaker pint glass at the brewpub.
Another visit to the Lucky Monk, another new beer to try. This one pours a clear sunset amber topped by a half-finger of short-lived dirty cream foam. The nose comprises flowers, grapefruit rind, buttery toffee, and light caramel. The taste holds notes of grapefruit, greens, mandarin orange, banana, light black pepper, nutmeg, orange peel, and sweet flowers in the end. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta dry finish. Overall, a nice little maibock, nothing amazing, but pretty tasty and enjoyable on a rainy afternoon in the 'Burbs.
