Served in a shaker pint glass at the brewpub.

Man, those Lunar boys do get around, don't they? This newest collaboration is a black IPA, just in time for the Hallowe'en season. It pours a nearly opaque black-brown topped by a finger of charred sienna foam. Quite lovely, actually. The nose comprises darkly-roasted malts, dark coffee, and a touch of mild pine needle. The taste holds notes of bitter coffee, darkly-roasted malts, light dark chocolate (the pureest, bakers' kind, baby), sharp pine, and a touch of grapefruit rind. The bitterness is amped-up here, to be sure. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate caronation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, a pretty damn nice CDA, and this is coming from someone who hasn't been much of a fan of the style. I could drnk a few of these easily...
