Karel is awesome. Very hospitable. Shares some great offerings from the tank if you are lucky. A fun place to hang out and drink lambic or learn about it.

Karel’s passion makes visit when he’s there a great experience. Ask him to play his bagpipes. Just don’t call his beer sour. Cheers!

Toer de Geuze 2019: Day 2, first stop
For the festival they had tours going all day, and the adjacent town hall was open for food and bottle sales. There was a troupe of folk dancers entertaining the crowd with accordion music and sword jumping. The convivial atmosphere was great here, and we hung out for a couple hours sharing bottles. Bottle quality was variable, but when it's great, it's really great.
Karel Goddeau was leading the English tours, and he was quite a character. The tour was lighthearted, though he made his opinions known, such as "draft gueuze doesn't exist" and so on. He mentioned they had a new (secondhand) bottling line for filling 375mL bottles, which was promising news.
De Cam unblended jonge lambiek (15 months) was my favorite straight lambic of the entire trip. Bursting with peach, lemon, and tangerine, and a lingering dry oaky finish, it was absolutely perfect. I took a second tour with a group of Russian brewers just to get another sample of it, and the second tour was even more informative.
I highly recommend staying in Gooik as a base of operations, it's very central to many other Pajottenland destinations, and has it's own hidden gems like Neigembos forest and quaint country volkscafes like Cafe Stuivenberg and Den Haas. De Nieuw Kam is an exceptional B&B down the street from De Cam, on the grounds of a former lambic brewery (Walravens).
Be advised that Volkscafe De Cam is unaffiliated with De Cam Geuzestekerij, they share the name of the former farm brewery site they both sit on. The cafe doesn't always have De Cam lambic either, just a friendly PSA.

Not sure what they provide to the general public but a friend took me by to see the facility. What a place and what a commitment to history! These guys are outstanding and their passion shows through quite nicely. I love this place.

I was here during the tour de geuze 2011. The place is slightly out of the city center of a very small, nice looking Belgium village with very narrow streets. The place looks fantastic, very old and authentic (although they are after Tilquin, the newest geuze blender as far as I remember). We took a guided tour through the brewery, which is quite small (because they only blend here). After the tour we took a nice geuze, kriek and faro and enjoyed the sun and the landscape. In general this place is quite romantic, but there is not too much to see.
