Lives up to it's name - that corner grocer with a pretty good beer selection that you know you always want to go back to, wondering to yourself "what's Soo Corner Store going to have today?" Pretty clean store that had good service every time I used to go in. Prices were reasonable and just down the street from where I used to work and also from where I used to go fishing. Nothing like nabbing some salmon, cleaning them up and then grabbing a sixer of Two Hearted back then.

I grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, MI where this store is located. SSM would be hell for any craft beer drinker if the Soo Corner Store did not exist. This store is the reason that i like the beers I do today, if not only because this is the only place they were available haha. The staff there is really cool for the most part, the girl that manages it is a bitch to the max and rude to the super cool employees. This store is cool because they have a nice selection of craft and micro beers that you can buy in 6 packs, single 12 oz, or bombers. they have a lot of michigan beers here such as Bells, New Holland, Dark Horse, Shorts, and Founders which is awesome. They also have a very large selection of liquor in all sizes. All in all this is a great store for everyone, they even have snacks! oh shit! But yea, if you are in northern michigan and you love craft beer come here. Its pretty much the only place that had the beers you want. they have Stone, Lagunitas, Rogue, St. Peters, Sierra Nevada, Avery, and all of the michigan beers ive mentioned earlier. the prices are great too. $5 for arrogant bastard, $4.80 for Hop Stoopid. They are better than the prices i've seen since I moved to NYC hahaha. Its a great store with great employees. Stop in if you get the chance.

Was in the Sault for the weekend so it was an obvious choice to make a little beer run, glad I found out about the Soo Corner Store.
They have all of there beer in the cooler witch is a bonus. The selection is good (the best in the Sault) but I've been to smaller corner stores with much more variety. They had some six packs of Founders, Bells, New Holland, Clipper City and Great Lakes. Singles were lacking, Stone Arrogant Bastard, Great Divide Hercules, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid and maybe 5 or so more.
Lots of wine and liquor on top of the beer selection. The service was good I usually just like to browse for my self. I'll be here anytime I'm in the Sault area.

I visited Soo Corner Store on a recent day trip to Sault Ste. Marie. I asked around the forum and the consensus was this was the place to stop. They had beer, wine and liquor, and general food as well, although I didn't take much note of any of it. The beer was almost all in the cooler (except for some mini kegs of Two Hearted), with as much or more craft than macro. I was happy to find Michigan breweries well represented, none of which were available to me in Maine. There were three or four six packs each of Founders, Bells, Shorts, MBC and Great lakes, as well as some West Coast stuff like Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada. There were a few bombers from Rogue, Stone and the like, as well as some fairly common (but delicious) Belgians.
I browsed for a while, trying to narrow my choices down to a case, all the while the girl at the front was happy to answer questions and make suggestions. She seemed to know here stuff and was very helpful. Prices were about $9 to $10 per six pack, honestly I don't know if this is standard for these brews, but I felt it was pretty reasonable compared with most places I've been around the country.
I'm sure there are places with better selection in other parts of Michigan, but as far as Sault Ste. Marie goes, the Soo Corner Store is a good as it gets. If it was just a little closer (I'm currently living in Sudbury, ON), I would drive down just for a beer run.
