Bought six of these on clearance a couple of years ago for $5 (!) apiece. Sadly, this is the last one. They've just gotten better and better. Figs, chocolate, roasty malts, molasses, all beautifully balanced--what a delight!

From Belgiuminabox. In Grimbergen glass. Playing A Golden Wake. Maybe the 2011 version was a bit softer and more balanced but this one is still great nonetheless

On tap at 'The Pour House' in Exton, PA
L: Pours a dark brown, opaque, with a moderate tan head.
S: Roasted malts, milder yeasts, and fruits... plums and figs.
T: Dangerously high in alcohol, and the 10% is very well hidden. Clearly a Belgian style... more of a roasted malt character than I was expecting. Chocolate and dried fruit were playing in the background.
F: Very smooth, medium body... not quite chewy, and nicely carbonated.
O: Not quite what I was expecting from a Belgian Strong Ale.... the roasted malt characteristics put me more in mind of a porter or stout. Great flavor though, and there was a lot going on with this beer. It does a dangerously good job at hiding just how high the ABV is, and definitely a sipper.

A dark tan head floats thin across this dark brown brew.
Grain, spice cake and plum aroma-wise.
Dry with ripened dark fruits, grape juice, grain a pinch of cinnamon and some chocolate as it warms.
Medium-bodied with a virtually unnoticeable alcohol heat.
